ASSESSMENT SUPPORT FOR BUDGET REDUCTION PLANNING
Libraries everywhere are grappling with the reality of sizeable funding cuts. In this difficult and rapidly changing environment, assessment can play a valuable role in providing information critical to support budget reduction and program review. Please join us on Friday January 23, from 1:30 to 3:00 to learn more about how good assessment can lead to better informed decisions. We’ll discuss how libraries are using assessment results, statistics, performance measures/metrics and other management information data to support planning and decision-making related to budget cuts.

This sounds like a valuable forum. I appreciate that you are offering it. However, the time creates a conflict with the always excellent OCLC Forum – that is always 1:30 to 4 on the Friday of ALA (mid and annual). For those of us who would like to attend both, perhaps ARL could consider making their assessment forum on Friday from 11 to 1 – and then there is time to take in the OCLC forum as well.
It’s hard to schedule things at ALA without conflicts — ARL has a ClimateQUAL meeting on Friday mornings. We will look into this if there is anything that can be done. — Martha
For those of us interested but not attend Midwinter, would it be possible to webcast this assessment forum?
Thanks,
Linda
I agree that if at all possible, please try to reschedule the ARL Assessment Meeting to Friday morning. I also attend the OCLC Symposium, and this year the topic is especially timely: From Linking to Thinking–How We’ll Live When Information Surrounds Us.
In response to Linday Plunket’s request, we will post descriptions of the event, ppt slides etc, on the website.
Wonderful! So glad the ppt slides and descriptions will be posted.
