“Return on Investment in a Tough Economy — Defining the Value of the Academic Library”

Sunday, June 26, 2011, 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Convention Center Room 393-394

ALA Annual 2011 – New Orleans, Louisiana

A program jointly sponsored by two Library Leadership & Management Association (LLAMA) Committees: MAES Data Collection for Library Managers and LOMS Financial Management

Learn about two current projects that will help academic (and other) libraries apply return on investment (ROI) principles to demonstrate their value and impact on users and justify the investment during challenging economic times.

After a welcome by Dr. Janine Golden, LLAMA President-Elect, 2010 – 2011,

Irene Herold (Dean, Mason Library, Keene State College), Dr.  Anne Marie Casey (Director, Hunt Library, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University), and Adriene Lim (Interim University Librarian, Portland State University) will explain the application of Triple (people, planet, and profit) Bottom Line Accounting (TBLA) to ROI.

Dr. Bruce Kingma (Associate Provost for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, School of Information Studies, Syracuse University) will discuss the IMLS-grant-funded Lib-Value (Value, Outcomes, and Return on Investment of Academic Libraries) that is developing approaches to assessing the value of library services.

A Question & Answer period will conclude the session.

Hope to see you there!
